Kathryn Erskine for her critically acclaimed young people's novel, Mockingbird. Mockingbird is about a ten year old girl with Aspergers whose brother is shot and killed during a school shooting.
Erskine hails from Virgina and according to The Hook, writing this book was Erskine's way of processing the Virginia Tech shootings.
